Dear Diary…(Flood of thoughts)

Dear Diary…

Where do we even begin?  Its been a minute since we’ve communicated, so I guess I should bring you up to speed.  Maybe I should categorize this in the category of movies:

Thrillers:  I moved into my apartment in Portugal, and six days later, my apartment flooded.

Action:  You should have seen my behind hightailing it this week adapting to this walkable lifestyle, dragging groceries, lifting moving boxes, all Herculean efforts to set up my apartment quickly.  I didn’t know an almost 50-year-old body could hurt from walking so much.

Romance:  Well,  I’ve put my super bachelorette days behind me.  You’d be happy to know I’ve been keeping my hands to myself…quite literally.

Drama:  No more drama, as Mary J. Blige said, but a new set of realities in beaurocracy in a new country that feel like a drama mini series.

Comedy:  Must we go there?  My whole life is one big comedic production, in true Bridget Jones’ form.

But that’s how life plays out, right.  It’s a movie.  You can choose to play the lead, and let your character develop over the course of different scenes and circumstances to become one with more depth from experience.

I never imagined my character would develop into a leading role, and that I would have such a beautiful host of supporting women, family, and friends who are rooting for my success in Portugal.

I reimagine so much goodness happening.  I reimagine a strong community of women breaching the door of every possibility, and taking another woman by the hand to lift them high enough to see what’s possible.  I reimagine witty inventions, bold recreations, magnificent manifestations.  I know what starts by me, must be first worked in me.  So here’s to doing my best, showing up authentic, living out loud. and speaking my truth with a good dose of humor to make it more palatable.

Thank you for holding my thoughts and my musings.  I hope you have plenty of pages left, for this is about to be one helluva adventure!  I think that category suits me best.
